do you like about your graduate program at Ohio State?
The
best thing about the program is the people. I also like that
the program is multidisciplinary and there is flexibility

What
do you like about Columbus?
Columbus
has many of the things of a large city, but the atmosphere
is not as intimidating. The parks are very nice, and there
are many other things to see and do.

What
do you like about your graduate program at Ohio State?
My
graduate program at the Ohio State University (OSU) has, in
my opinion, the best faculty and program in the Consumer Science
area to nurture me towards my fullest potentials. In addition,
OSU has excellent Medical and Public Health programs, which
would further enrich my area of interests and research. And
those are two of the many big things that I like about my
graduate program in OSU.

What
has been your experience in obtaining financial aid?
Obtaining
a financial aid is not easy. First, you need to compete with
other applicants from all corners of the world to get acceptance
into OSU. Next, you need to stand out among the cream of the
crops so that the department would hire you. Then, you need
to prove that you are able to work efficiently and maintain
your high work standard.
As
a graduate assistant, I help my supervisor with research and
teaching which include teaching, grading, simple web-designing,
literature searching, data managing, and data analyzing.

What
do you like about Columbus?
Unlike
a typical university town, the greater Columbus area comprises
of special features of big cities, unique small cities, and
everything in between. On the “big-city” side,
Columbus has COSI (Center Of Science and Industry), the Columbus
Zoo, an International Airport, interstate and state highways,
libraries, skiing parks, and recreational parks.
On
the “small-city” side, the greater Columbus area
draws together various cultures that supply Columbus with
restaurants, malls, and grocery stores of ethnic groups such
as American, German, Greek, Hispanic, Middle-Eastern, Chinese,
and Indian. If you travel a little bit, you can explore various
farms, and visit German Village and the warm Amish country.
As in all cities, there are places in Columbus that you do
not want to be at times, but that’s Columbus. As the
Census indicates, in many ways, Columbus is a good representation
of America.

What
do you study and research?
In
general, I study people’s well-being that includes income,
poverty, expenditure, consumption, time-use, human capital,
and savings. It is basically business, management, and finance
but from the outlook of households, instead of firms. My specialization
is in time intergenerational transfer between elderly and
the younger generations, particularly their children. I look
at how much elderly and their children spend time on each
other (in parental care, childcare assistance) given their
financial intergenerational transfer and health conditions.

the International Airport and Highways, attract many renowned

guidance of experienced researchers in the field.

There
